What Could You Do With a $1 a Day?
I want to continue to talk about savings today, as I think that every little bit helps and having a solid plan in place for the new year is a great way to get started. I like to think in terms of baby steps, because it is much easier to let go of $1 here or there than $100. So, with that in mind, let me jump right into our next savings method. A $1 A Day! I know, I know you are thinking is she crazy, what can I buy with $1 a day, well the answer to that question quite frankly is not much. But by saving a $1 a day for one year, you have saved $365. Yeap, $365! Now what could you buy with $365? Well, I could buy a month’s worth of groceries, or pay an electric bill. I mean really people will you miss a $1 a day? Do you think twice when you kids ask for a dollar for a piece of candy? Of course not, so buy placing a $1 a day in a jar, or in my case, having $7 a week transferred from my bank account, we are growing our savings by a dollar a day.
Excellent. If people would think like you do we wouldn’t be bailing everyone out with our tax money. My blog usually advocates giving to those who could use it and I try to remind folks that sometimes it won’t hurt you too bad to maybe buy lunch for someone who looks hungry or give a little to a real helping organization like Meals on Wheels. With your dollar a day savings you could do a lot of help for someone in need by giving just a small portion to someone at the end of the year. Maybe a $10 gift for a child who won’t get a present at christmas. You can find situations right in your community that $10 could help. Just imagine what $2 a day would accomplish…
